On Thursday the 19th of March Pt England School seniors went all the way to manukau to the pacifica polyfest for the day.So we had to wait for the bus so we can get there  as we where there we were just waiting for Mrs tele’a and her group but they took to long to come so we just went in.

When we got in we saw Mrs Tele’a and her group sitting down so we went to them and sat down with them and the other schools. As we were sitting the laddie told us what is a dance so someone said the wormbut she didn’t know how to  do it so she did her own dance move.

She told us to stand up and do the dance move she told us to do so we did. Then she told us to sit down and she told us that someone special was coming and it was the prime minister  of New Zealand we were so happy that we got to see him but then he left.

Ployfest

Kia Ora, talofa lava, malo e lelei, faakalofa lahi atu, kia orana, bula vinaka, namaste and greetings!! My name is DJ It’s Pasifika week in Aotearoa, this means it’s a week long celebration of all things Pacific.  This includes the birthday dance we had with Mrs Tele’a!  Part of the celebration is the Polyfest!  This Thursday we are planning to travel to Manukau to take part in some workshops and then visit stages.  The two stages we will be visiting will be the Maori and Diversity stages.  Did you know that this event - the Polyfest celebrates 40 years since it’s beginning?  Awesome isn’t it!

Why do you think young people and their whanau participate in this event?

I think all of the people from other school and whanau participate in polyfest to show of their cultures. They show of their cultures so people can see how great they love their culture. So they give more harder dance moves. They show their family proud.

What things do you think the performers had to go through to get to having the items we will see? (Make a list)
  • Practise
  • getting told off
  • making up the moves
  • to learn new moves

How does this event promote our different cultures?

to promote others for joining in to other cultures is to help them out when their suck and to courage them for joining in. To promote others for learning their culture and their dance moves is to tell the that their doing well

Conclusion: Write a short paragraph about what you are looking forward to during our visit to the Polyfest.

I am really looking forward to visiting the ASB polyfest in manukau and watching all of the good performances and the people that is in the performances and seeing the people i know in it.

Using commas 2

Using commas
The boy, who was very tall, was a great basketball player.  😍

In the sentence above, the words in between the two commas give us extra information.  These words could be left out and the sentence would still make sense.

In the story below there are some sentences that give extra information. Your task is to put commas (   ) around the extra information. The first pair of commas has been put in for you.

Old Mrs MacGinty  who had lived in her house for sixty-five years
was having a garage sale. She wanted to clear out some of the clutter from her house. The sale which was being held on Saturday, had been advertised in the local paper. There was also a sign on Mrs MacGinty’s front gate.
On Friday night, Mrs MacGinty went down to the garage to check that everything was in order, for the next day. The blue and white dinner set was going for a bargain, she thought at fifty-five dollars. The grandfather clock, although running a little slow did still go. The vase which she had been given, as a twenty-first birthday present, had a small crack but you'd hardly notice it. When Mrs MacGinty looked at herself in the oak-framed mirror, which used to hang in the spare bedroom, she wondered how the years had flown by so quickly.
Mrs MacGinty who by this time was beginning to feel a little shaky sat down. She looked slowly around at all her things. She thought and she thought. Suddenly she got to her feet. A gleam came into her eyes. Mrs MacGinty marched as well as a little old lady, with wobbly knees can out to the front gate and took down the garage sale sign.
"After-all," Mrs MacGinty said to herself, "you can't sell your
memories."

Culture Day

Hearing all of the beats from the cook island drum and see the girls hips swing side to side. Walking down the hall and making their way up to the stage made my eyes stuck on them just seeing how good they are. As the drumming went faster the girls hip where moving faster and faster.

As the girls where just about finishing then this other drum came in I looked to the other side and it was Mr Garden doing the the other drum trying to make it sound better than the cook island. When the cook island girls where done the cook island drum was still going.

As the cook island drum was still going on Mr Garden took his drums and put them next to the cook island people as he was putting them their I just kept on looking at the cook island when Mr Garden was done putting all of his drums they had a drumming competition.

The fish and chips, which Mum had picked up on her way home from town, tasted delicious.

In the sentence above, the words in between the two commas give us extra information.  These words could be left out and the sentence would still make sense.

In the story below there are some groups of words that give extra information.  Your task is to put commas (,) around the extra information.  The first pair of commas has been put in for you.

As soon as the bell rang Rawiri  who couldn’t wait to read his new comic book  raced out the door. When he got home he found, to his surprise, a police car parked in the driveway. Rawiri’s mother who had been out shopping had arrived home, to find the bathroom window smashed, and many of their belongings missing.  Their house had been burgled.  Rawiri couldn’t believe his eyes, when he saw the state of his room.  His comic books which he’d left neatly stacked, were scattered all over the floor.  His piggy bank in which he’d put most of his pocket money, had been smashed and left lying in pieces on the floor.  But the worst thing of all was that his rugby ball, the one signed by Jonah Lomu was gone.  Rawiri sat down and cried.
